Kids become archaeologists as they excavate a mock pit with actual tools of the trade, process reproduction artifacts and analyze original objects to see what they can tell about the people who used them in the past. Take a break and come back in the afternoon for the below workshop on quill pens, hornbooks and stucco apprentice.
Materials Required: None all are provided
Class Day/Time: Tuesday, 10:30-12:00PM . (Drop off, 3 children minimum to run the program)

Learn what life was like as young colonist as a student or apprentice, Historic New England Program – Best suited for ages 5-10
Teacher: 
Kathleen Hooper – bioquill pen
Kids learn what life was like for young colonists in New England, whether they were attending school or learning as an apprentice. Students will write with quill pens, make their own hornbooks and solve math problems. They will also try out what it might have been like to be a stucco apprentice and will make a plaster ornament to take home. Young learners will play historic games and make one to play at home.
