Acrylic Painting –  Mondays 11:00AM-12:30PM

Acrylic painting is a class where students will create an acrylic painting on canvas from a photo they provide. The painting can be of any subject from a beautiful landscape to a portrait of your favorite pet. Bring a picture you would like to work on or the instructor will have suggestions. Linda will teach you acrylics so do not worry if you have no experience. It is suggested you sign-up for several weeks to complete your project, but it is not required.

Open Art Studio (Ages 18+)
Lisa Korzec bio                                                                                                                                                                                           Open to all levels of artists using drawing or painting Open to all levels or artists, any media in a non-instructed, creative environment. Lisa will provide choices of still life items and photos for inspiration or you may bring your own or use your imagination. She is available as a facilitator to provide positive feedback and resource materials at your request. It is, most importantly, a relaxed, supportive environment, celebrating individual expression.
Materials Required: Students bring their own materials. Lisa will provide suggestions if needed just email the center and ask.

Watercolor Workshop with Rockport Artist,  Chris Coyne, Saturday, March 10th ~ ALL levels Welcome!
The Braintree Community Arts Center is excited to offer a Watercolor Workshop with well known Rockport artist Chris Coyne. There will be a brief discussion of materials and short demo before we begin painting. You may bring your own subject matter or paint along with the instructor’s demonstration using supplied the image.  Open to all abilities, learn and practice watercolor techniques in a friendly, encouraging atmosphere. Adult Knitting All Levels or Basic Crochet

Whether you just want to improve your skills or simply learn from scratch, our friendly environment will be the spot to come and join in. No materials are needed for your first class the instructor will make suggestions then. Janet will teach you how to knit if you are a beginner or instruct through advanced, if interested in learning crochet during this time it will be just at the basic level only. A day dedicated to writing. We’ll warm up with a few writing prompts, then spend most of the afternoon writing in companionable silence, with occasional breaks and optional sharing. Open to adult writers of all experience levels and all types of writing. If you have a writing project, bring it; if you’re just beginning, we’ll have some resources to help you start. Learn to Quilt or Come Work on a Current Project – Thursday Evenings 5-8PM

Drop into the BCAC and enjoy creating your own quilts in a relaxed atmosphere. The experienced teacher will help you create your own quilt from start to finish. From your pattern and cutting to the final binding you will get guidance and instruction. Some sewing experience is helpful. Whether you are a novice sewer or experienced quilter you will share the creative process with a community of quilters of all levels.
Materials Required:  Bring your own materials and machine, if it’s a project your currently working on with you, if you are totally new to Quilting Libby will assist you. Please email us and we can tell you specifics on materials to bring etc..

Improv Quilting Support Group
Teacher: Marge Tucker – bio                                                                                                                                                                                                         Improv Quilting support group is a group for those who are interested in improvisational piecing, whether you have never tried this method of piecing or have taken classes. Marge will have a focus/theme for each class and demonstrate a technique and/or time to work on projects you have started. The intent of this group is to foster enthusiasm for improvisational quilting in a fun and informal environment. We are aiming to meet every two months. Previous quilting experience is NOT necessary, but basic sewing skills are needed (basically you need to be able to operate a sewing machine). * Improvisational piecing can be described as no rules or regulations quilting. …Commercial patterns are not used therefore you are able to create unique and innovative pieces. Materials Required: Please bring: thread for a sewing machine, sewing machine, basic sewing supplies (pins, seam ripper, scissors), rotary cutter mat, ruler, square ruler for blocks, 1/8 yard cuts of 8-12 different fabrics. Printable supply list.
Workshop Day/time: Friday, February 9th, 10:00AM-3:00PM  and/or  Saturday, February 10th, 10:30AM-3:30PM these workshops will work on color. Especially, working on making a composition with a color or analogous colors inspired by MFA exhibit by artists Mark Rothko. He is best known for abstract works that feature a limited number of colors. See flyer for details or as always you may do your own thing!
